Found this place while in Lawrenceville. Large space with counter service. Wasn't sure what to expect. Service was friendly. Ordered the falafel sandwich with rice and Idk if I just haven't had falafel in a while or what, but this was out of this world! Seriously. The sandwich had just the right amount of hummus and toppings. The falafel itself was hot, crisp, seasoned perfectly. Even the rice was amazing. So good. And the price was right too!
The gyro meat was tender and the rice was good. I would of gave it 5 stars but the salad wasn't too good. The olives WITH THE PIT iceberg lettuce one small slice of tomato and one small slice of a cucumber.
I visit my sister in Lawrenceville every so often and we usually try new restaurants that we haven't tried. We decided on The Real Olive and was very happy. When we were younger we ate a lot of Lebanese Food and we were so thrilled Mohamed's food was a beautiful remembrance of the past. Prepared and spiced perfectly, fresh fresh fresh. We ordered several dishes and was pleased with everything. I wish I would have brought a cooler with me so I could have ordered extra grape leaves and the perfect pita bread and hummus. We ate in and was honored to speak with the Owner. If you love good food, and have a developed palate, I suggest you try this wonderful restaurant that my sister will return to for take out, and when I visit we will eat here together. I wish he had another place here in Midtown as I would be a frequent diner! Baklava was sinful!
The three young men working were nice and professional. The meat was freshly prepared although the rice could’ve been warmer. All of it tasted great! The baklava was delicious, flakey, not too sweet, not gooey, not sticky…. Perfect! Went because I stumbled upon a Groupon, but I’d go without a Groupon. Now if you like white meat be aware that the chicken is not breast meat but is boneless thigh, albeit well seasoned. We ordered one chicken and one beef shawarma entree.
This is more Arabic style...I sometimes wish restaurants would state what region the food is flavored....every region has different take on the food. The chicken 🐔 dish was dry. I found that the price was a bit high end. I would try maybe one more time if I am in the area/mood. I wish that they would have served drill rice.
